Health Screening NZ was founded with a clear mission: to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes for everyday New Zealanders. Cardiovascular disease is largely preventable, yet too many families face the loss of loved ones. Christchurch GP Dr John Cook, a co-founder of CardiAction, spent over a decade developing this innovative screening tool to help change that. He recognised the need to make it widely accessible, reaching out to Carolyn Oakley-Brown, a local pharmacist, to bring CardiAction to community pharmacies across New Zealand.

As a pharmacist with over 40 years of experience—and having lost her father to an undetected heart condition—Carolyn was deeply moved by the potential impact of this screening. She believes that had CardiAction been available decades earlier, it could have saved her father’s life. That’s the driving force behind bringing this essential service to you.
